Let me expand on this. Which is more Evil? A friend / Co-worker came up to me once and said, “So Ted, when are you going to get one of God’s computers?” I told him, “I really think that if God had computers they wouldn’t have a logo of an Apple with a bite out of it.” Not to mention the Kernel (Operating System) is called “Darwin”. Steve Jobs donated tons of computers to schools in the ’80s to entrench Apple as a defacto standard in the education system. Meanwhile, Microsoft was being scrutinized by Anti Trust litigators for serious “predatory Market Practices” for absorbing smaller companies or coersion with hardware manufacturers. Although Bill Gates is know as a monumental philanthropist with the Gates Foundation, both he and Jobs are notorius for their tempers and paranoia.
I probably won’t do this justice but, there once was a young programmer who’s early ambition was to write code that would both elicit great joy, strike great fear and respect and bring people to tears, he went on to a career writing error message text for Microsoft (something like that).
I have an Apple Mac Book Pro running Windows in VMWare. I ponder the question on a regular basis… Which is more evil? Apple or Microsoft. I would love to hear people’s views on this question.

We’ve all known for years that while Google chants the mantra of “no evil” they are amassing the largest amount of data in history which they have openly admitted that they intend for future use (as yet undetermined). Their collection and storage of every search and movement of every user to ever use Google has garnered them “Big Brother” status, despite their insistence of being a benevolent monopoly. While they continue to sing this song they are also acquiring behemoths like You Tube and drawing the eyes of anti-trust litigators in D.C. They are now standing toe to toe with the likes of Microsoft.
Which brings us to Facebook, the storm that is sweeping the internet with everyone you know sharing the joys and foibles of daily life in 140 characters between throwing, poking, quizzing and gifting. Yes, such a fun and wonderful way to connect to friends, family old classmates, etc. “How could this be evil?”, you ask. Well, let me tell you. Google is huge, if you type in something it will return everything that has that phrase in it. It is general, ubiquitous. If you want to find everything that uses that phrase, Google is your tool. But, if you want to find out what your friends and family think, feel or say about something Facebook is the place to look. Facebook is teaming up with Microsoft using their new “Bing Answer Engine” to target searches. (I’m going to pull an Andy Rooney here) “Did’ja ever notice… when you do just about anything on Facebook it asks you for complete access to your profile?” Why do you think that is? Just in the last year there have been several major upsets (some making network news) about Facebook changing it’s policies. Imagine for a second with all of the information that people freely put on Facebook about their movements, and preferences, likes and dislikes. How well they could target the individual, it is terrifying to say the least.
I could go on more on this with facts and evidence, but I am more interested in what you think. Which is more evil, Google or Facebook?
